Farm to Five-Star: Padstow Holiday Let Takes Shape

For almost two hundred years a dairy farm sat quietly on a ridge above the Camel Estuary, looking out over the water to Padstow itself.

Its next chapter is now being written by Simon and Judith, who bought the 15.5-acre site in October 2022, funded in cash from the sale of the care business they'd spent nearly two decades building.

Their plan for the old farm buildings was ambitious: a luxury two-storey holiday let with five bedrooms, a home cinema and games rooms, sleeping up to 12 guests, plus a Shepherd's Hut and a Bothy. The project has been driven by a desire to respond to the sites' outstanding setting and local characteristics, employing local rural skills and rural methods of construction, using locally sourced sustainable materials of the highest quality with a view to achieve net zero.

Bricks Finance provided a £1.7m, 18-month development loan against a £2.7m build cost, with drawdowns phased alongside the couple's own investment.

Simon and Judith already run a successful holiday let nearby in Padstow Harbour, and early interest from refinance lenders points to a clear path ahead: a striking, sustainable new home for guests overlooking one of Cornwall's finest stretches of coastline.
